Meet Michel Beutler

Michel is Head of OTS (Organization Transition Support), Belgium.

How long have you worked here?
I have worked here full time since July 2006.

Please describe the main tasks of your job.
We are Change Management Consultants. In this function we are mainly responsible for consulting and coaching the business on change management issues on a global level. Our offerings mainly consist of 2 core products: The so called ACT methodology (Accelerating Change and Transition) contains tools, methods and templates to support and coach (project) managers on effective Change Management. The Organization Development Initiative, ODIT, on the other hand supports Organization Development.

Please give a short description of your career so far!
From 2000, I’ve worked in Switzerland as the Internal Communications and Employee Relations Manager in the head office of former Danzas. My task was to build up this new department, which successfully grew into the Global Internal Communications Department of Danzas worldwide. In 2002, I became Deputy Head of Global Communications Danzas worldwide. With the integration of the Danzas Communications department into the DHL Global Communications department in Brussels, I was asked to lead the STAR DHL Integration Communications department. In February 2003, I accepted the challenge and had the pleasure to build up a multicultural team in Brussels, responsible for the integration communications for DHL within the STAR Program. When the project was finished, I had the possibility to stay in Brussels as an HR Business Consultant mainly for the functions Operations, Freight and Network Europe.

Describe a typical working day!
There is no such thing as "a typical day" for a Change Consultant. Every day looks different, every customer request looks different, every solution looks different. It is our main challenge to understand our internal customers and apply our change methodology to their specific needs.

Who are the people that you meet while doing your job?
We have internal customers of all divisions and business units worldwide. We deal mainly with managers and project managers. At this stage, our support is mainly focused on Europe. In parallel, we are designing a change management rollout in Asia and are in contact with the Americas as well.

What do you like most about your job?
What I like most is the team I am working with. Thanks to the different nationalities and experiences in my team, we are able to offer a complementing and broad service, adding value to the business of our broad customer base.

Are there parts that you don't like?
I don't like overcomplicating processes, which keep me from working and which keep me from getting things done for my customers!

What is the most important thing to watch in your job?
The first and foremost goal for me and my new team is to generate value for our customers. We want to provide Change Management solutions, which ensure effective change at all levels in order for the business to achieve its goals. In this role, I would like to grow together with the business and get the feeling of contributing positively to something important. Being part of the Change!
