Kenneth Kaunda
Meet Kenneth Kaunda
Kenneth is Operations AM Duty Manager, DHL Kenya.
How long have you worked here?
This is my fifth year.
Please describe the main tasks of your job.
I have to ensure that all customer shipments are delivered in a timely and courteous manner and that all pick ups are accomplished. I am responsible for the daily supervision and management of the ground operations team comprising couriers, warehouse staff, data entry and bagging staff.
Please give a short description of your career so far!
I have had an exciting and extremely challenging career with DHL for the past 12 years. Commitment and dedicated service have been the cornerstones of my success. I look forward to an even more successful and challenging future.
What training/studies have been necessary to qualify for your job?
Basically, I have attended all the major training courses both in and outside of DHL that qualify me for my job.
Describe a typical working day!
My day begins between 06.15 and 06.30 in the morning. On a typical day, I then read my mail and daily handover. Afterwards I conduct a warehouse stroll and ensure that all shipments needing special attention are isolated and accorded the requested service. After this, I conduct courier pre-departure checks and ensure that all couriers depart timely for their courier cycles. Finally, I run daily audit reports and operations reports, document a daily handover and complete several other daily jobs.
Who are the people that you meet while doing your job?
It is very interesting to meet both internal and external customers of almost all professions on a regular basis.
What do you like most about your job? Are there parts that you don't like?
I have a passion for my job to begin with. I have all the professional knowledge and understanding of my job - hence job satisfaction. I really couldn't say that I do not like any part of it.
What is the most important thing to watch in your job?
There really is not a single most important thing. All of my tasks are equally important. Maybe the most important thing is to always go the extra mile.
