DHL Improves its Operations and Services in Puerto Vallarta

  • The $150 thousand dollar investment will be reflected in substantial improvements for DHL customers. - Puerto Vallarta is a strategic area due to its intense national and international tourist activity.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, May 4th, 2006 - DHL the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry, inaugurated today its Operations and Service Center in Puerto Vallarta, representing a $150 thousand dollar investment.

The investment was utilized in the implementation of the warehouse and administrative offices, acquisition of new furniture; paving of the facilities access street; building of a retail shop; and the installation of a closed circuit security system.

The event was presided over by Mr. Luis Eraña, Operations Vice President, Mr. Martin Álvarez Commercial Vice President and Mr. José Guzmán, Operations Director of the DHL Center.

Mr. Luis Eraña, Operations Vice President of DHL Express México commented “we are proud to provide continuity to our commitment to improve our services by modernizing our infrastructure; this work will finally be completed the moment we meet our customers´ needs to their full satisfaction”.

The Operations and Service Center that prior to being remodeled has a surface area of 140 m2, now is 1,200 m2. The remodeling and construction phase was completed in two and a half months and now offers several additional benefits to DHL customers:
  • More efficient vehicle entrance and exit (Land networks), reducing the operation time in up to 40 minutes.
  • Moreover, with the installation of an internal distribution system and shipment sorting forming part of the operational process, the route out time where improved by more than 25 minutes.
  • Better coverage of the hotel zone and its surroundings, as well as an improved infrastructure for the cities corporate activities.

“It is clear that the client will reap the most benefit from the remodeling and expansion of our Operations and Service Center in Puerto Vallarta given that the investment made will permit us to increase the quantity of local deliveries before noon, as well as in the Leave out Connection in Same Day Service”, said Mr. Martin Álvarez Commercial Vice President of DHL Express México.

The foreign tourism market in Puerto Vallarta will also allow DHL to retain and gain new customers by offering international document and express package delivery.

The DHL Service Center in Puerto Vallarta has a staff of 17 people, operating in two shifts: one from 9:00 to 13:00 hours and the second from 16:00 to 20:00 hours, which moves approximately 850 pieces a day through four local routes and one external route. These routes are served by 3 Sprinter Vans, 1 Urvan and 1 Kangoo Van.
